With the Seattle Mariners owning the worst record in the Major Leagues, the club has fired manager John McLaren. The firing comes in the wake of the dismissal Monday of general manager Bill Bavasi and, a week before that, hitting coach Jeff Pentland. McLaren won't have any comment until at least Friday and Riggleman was unavailable as he was with the team flying to to Atlanta to open a series with the Braves. Sat, 5 Jul 2008 2:20:57 PDT
