I moved to the Santa Cruz area in 1995, when I came for a short family visit. I have been here ever since. I enjoy the diversity, weather and progressive atmosphere the Bay area has to offer.
Before moving to Santa Cruz, I lived in Boulder Colorado. I grew up with sunny summers playing outside, catching crawdads in the creek and "snow days" from school in the winter. I enjoy visits back to Colorado to visit my family and enjoy the beautiful area. I also occasionally miss the snow, at Christmas and that doesn't last long.
Growing up a mainframe programmers daughter, I got to play and destroy old computer chips and sneak games of Zork on my dad's computer. Having grown up with a sister who was a whiz at Math, it was unexpected that I would get involved with computers. When I came to California I was introduced to the Internet and thing progressed from there, writing my own web page in notepad in 1996, programming C in 1997 and am now intrigued be the idea of taking raw data and making it useful with queries into a database. I have always leaned towards web development, more on the technical side then design.
On my free time, I enjoy gardening, walking my dog, spending time with people who are important to me and continuing to learn and challenge myself. If I have extra free time I would like to improve my Chess playing, set up a dark room, and read more.
